I felt the need to revitalize with a good walk in the woods yesterday and decided to try someplace new. The Louisville Swamp is a stretch of high bluff land, prairie and lowlands along the flood plane of the the Minnesota River, it has some nice vistas over the river and good trail system.
Honestly going to a spot with the word “swamp” in the name, in Minnesota, in midst of the wettest spring on record was probably not the brightest idea on my part. Some of the trails are impassable under several feet of water and when descending out of the 20 mile an hour winds on the highlands into the peace of the lower woods the bugs forced me to keep moving at such a brisk pace it was no longer a leisurely stroll.
All that said great day, took a few snapshots and i will be checking it out again for sure… perhaps in fall after a freeze.
